"The dolphins did not escape.
The entire pod has been wiped out.
We are depending on our local Faroese friends to document this brutal slaying and sharing with us as it happens.
We are thankful that they are there and thankful that they are speaking for the dolphins.
This is the path to change.
Until the whale supporting locals speak up, this will continue to happen."

Did you know that if you eat cod it probably has the blood of dolphins and whales on it?!!! Our own UK government did a trade deal with the Faroes in 2019 to import £200 million worth of fish from them. Good job getting "the word" out on these vile killings and captures. But more importantly presenting info on different venues and platforms so people will hear. So people will listen and become advocates and activist. So perhaps one day the right person with the power and resources will end these horrors.

Thank you for commenting, Cindy. So many activists write letters and present petitions to the worlds' leaders, only to be ignored. Our planet is already heading towards disaster with global warning and diseases such as Covid, yet for our power-hungry governments, it's business as usual.

All media should show and report this. Especially the insane reply of the government that this slaughter is humane, useful and tradition. Besides, another way would be that a group of activists shows this horror on Dolphins on videos to the public in the street,

Agreed, Leotien. Here in the UK, the BBC was covering the story during which a reporter grilled a Faroe Islands' spokesperson. Suddenly, it was interrupted by "breaking news", never to be aired again. We believe this was done deliberately by a high authority in the UK who didn't want this story aired.

Thank you for taking the time to comment, Leotien.

Like everyone reading this blog or viewing the global TV reports, we were appalled and sickened by the genocide committed by the ‘wannabee Vikings’ of the Faroe Islands.

This type of wanton barbarism should be confined to history. Yet, backward countries such as Japan and the Faroe Islands continue to slaughter our precious Atlanteans without redress.

This poses important questions: Just how far will our spineless governments go to protect their lucrative trade deals? For how long will they continue to condone these atrocities?

As for the blog itself, it is factual, well-written and was a privilege to promote.

Remember, only together are we strong.

I can't believe that the BBC coverage was interrupted while airing!
Why didn't the ignorants ban the report to be shown in the first place?

Here in the hourly "NTV"-News a report about the recently slaughtered dolphins was shown too.
And they even said in the news that animal welfare activists are fighting against the grind!

Well known TV channel.
Great that they spread the word and aren't scared to clearly say what The Faroe Grind is: ANIMAL CRUELTY!

I don't believe that even 10% of the meat will be eaten.
Maybe they give it to tourists in restaurants and saying it's any other meat.
I hope not.

I guess most people who are not Faroese or Japanese DO NOT want to eat dolphins!

They can tell me what they want.
The Faroe grind is sports and bloodlust and showing the protesters that they don't give a fuq about our cries and do what they want.
Sorry, but they look like heartless and soulless subhumans.
Why do they risk to burn in hell for the needless mass murder?

And the UK Government is incredibly cowardly!
Wtf? They can trade stuff but still criticize the slaughter of dolphins for fun!

Thanks for making comment, Gucky. It's good to hear how this Faroe Islands' atrocity has been covered globally. Germany certainly appears to have stepped up to the plate re media coverage - unlike the UK that once again did its utmost to turn a blind eye to this carnage. Sadly, a shameful trait that appears to be endemic in the UK. We note that almost all the comments on this hard-hitting blog have come from overseas.

So, a huge thank you to NTV Germany and all those other TV channels and media outlets that have the guts to give this horrific story a global platform.

Once again, many thanks, Gucky, for bringing this to our attention.

18 small rugged islands in the North Atlantic between Ireland and Iceland, in the 9th century certainly very much needed the food they got from whale meat. They DO NOT NEED IT NOW. Even if "the tradition" were to be allowed to continue with just a few animals there can be no justification whatsoever, in todays' threatened oceans for the brutal slaughter of so many. Life is change, and change we all must at some point.

Thank you for giving this organization a platform to share this story. This story has taken on a life of its own! I've seen it on many different media platforms. Hopefully this means people are waking up th this barbarism! 1460 White sided dolphins; which are considered endangered, were killed just for the act of killing. What else can it be for? The meat is toxic if used for human consumption! Maybe that is what is wrong with these people...mercury poisoning from eating the meat of Pilot Whales and now White Sided Dolphins. The barbaric act of the Grind must be stopped now and since this story is making it all over the world I can only pray that it will! Again, thank you for giving this story your attention and a place to speak out. We must all speak out, sign all the petitions you can sign, send this story to media outlets and to my fellow activists, get off your buts and help in any way you can to stop these atrocities!

A very well-written comment making some important points, Kathy.

Maybe you are right about the toxic mix of mercury and other humankind-generated nasties sending these people mad. How else could one explain the grinning faces of crazed killers wallowing in the blood and gore of the innocents? Insanity personified.

And as we have said before, our Western governments are equally responsible for such atrocities, because they will not speak out. After all, they value lucrative trade deals far more than they value life.

As for giving Captain Garry Oates a platform, we were honoured to do so. As authors of The Perfect Pair Dolphin Trilogy, we view it as our responsibility to give all activists a voice. If we don't speak up for our voiceless souls, who will?

It is indeed unacceptable, Ely, and we agree that the world should shout its indignation against this barbaric act. Our planet is dying because of human greed and indifference. And people are dying or made disabled by horrific diseases, such as Covid, generated by abuse of animals. Yet, still, our leaders are not listening or learning. This Faroe Islands' atrocity should be condemned by the world's governments. So why aren't we hearing their voices? Thank you for commenting, Ely.

Extreme cruelty can not be dismissed as a cultural matter... fighting against this BRUTALITY is NOT about interfering with anyone's 'cultural tradition' ... it's just about stopping CRUELTY...n we should fight all together against it ...

Traditions, culture and customs should not be a reason to kill animals, humans are wrong in many things, unlike animals, they are better than us.

The absurd tradition of the Grindadráp is nothing more than the justification of a great annual slaughter, it is a ritual of people who do not respect life.

This world 🌎 will be better when human beings are aware, sensitive and respectful of animals.

We couldn't agree more, Angus. The Grind is nothing more than an orgy of cruelty, abuse and murder. What kind of person could possibly view this as a celebration of their heritage? Those that take part are nothing more than bloodthirsty thugs intent on eradicating those who are unable to defend themselves. In our opinion, the Faroese butchers are barbarians. Plain and simple.

Thank you for commenting, Angus.

This is nothing more than the brutal slaughter of an entire pod by heartless murderers. This is only one of many crimes against nature perpetuated by our species. We are killing flora and fauna each and every day. We are destroying everything around us . . . the air we breathe, the land we live on.and the water we drink. All of these are necessary for our continued survival. When will we realize this truth? When will we do something about it? Hopefully before it's too late.

Sadly, we fear it is too late, Nancy. Two nights ago, the UN reported that the world has failed on all targets to save the planet.

https://www.unilad.co.uk/news/un-says-world-has-failed-on-all-targets-set-to-save-the-planet/

By allowing such atrocities, humankind is actually killing its own children. If things carry on at this rate, the world's children will inherit oblivion.

Your comment is most insightful, Nancy, and we agree with every word. Thank you for taking the time to get in touch.

Nothing! That is what the USA media is saying about the horrific number of dolphins recently slaughtered by the Faroese. Nothing!
If not for Facebook, Twitter, and my amazing friends and activists, I wouldn't have known anything about this atrocity. The one question I constantly ask myself is: "Why are these slaughters still happening?" I don't have an answer, but what I do have is shock and disbelief that this extremely antiquated culture is allowed to wipe out an entire pod of 1400-plus endangered dolphins in just one day.
Are you kidding me?
How cruel and barbaric can a nation be? More importantly, how could Denmark stand idly by and allow this to happen year after year? What's worse is the huge amount of images showing little kids smiling and laughing as they watch these innocent dolphins getting sliced apart.
How cruel is that?? Are we the only one seeing this??? Are we the only ones clocking this psychopathic behaviour???? I'm beyond saddened, not to mention extremely frustrated, that in the 21st century, people are still butchering dolphins as they did hundreds of years ago. It’s nothing short of disgusting.
I ABSOLUTELY agree with everyone commenting on this blog that something must be done to stop the Faroe Islands’ slaughter. Call, write, send emails, use ALL social media outlets to reach the individuals that need to be reached. Hell - even use a messenger pigeon if necessary! We need to send our messages ASAP, because this massacre needs to stop as of YESTERDAY!

To think that a small group of islands are allowed to indiscriminately butcher 1400-plus white-sided dolphins without redress is nothing short of sickening. Even worse, all these murdered Atlanteans are classed as endangered. So, like you, Nico, we ask: What is wrong with the Faroese? Do they deem themselves so pathetically insular, so tribal, that they care nothing for the feelings of the outside world? Do they view the protection of a barbaric, outdated tradition as an excuse to inflict genocide on a sentient race?

Well, obviously, they do!

So, we urge everyone who is outraged by this horrific event to boycott all goods from the Faroe Islands. In other words, hit them in the pocket. As for promoting tourism to the home of these cowardly wannabe Vikings ... forget it!

Thanks for writing such a passionate comment, Nico, and for putting into words the utter disgust we all feel about this terrible event.

Thank you again for a great blog. What can I add to it, nothing, apart from my anger & disgust at this barbaric act.

I feel angry, frustrated & disgusted everyday when I see so many vile acts of cruelty committed by the human race. What makes it worse is that the Governments of each country allow it to go unpunished.

Humans need to realise that animals are not on this planet for our own greed, they are a part of the eco-system that keeps us alive

All we can do is carry on sharing for all the world to see, boycott these places, & their products. I wish more people would consider going vegan also, but thats a different conversation.

Thank you again for taking the time to comment on one of our blogs, Christine. Judging from the hits on our website, these are reaching far and wide.

You're quite right about the greed of humankind. Sadly, we're living in a world that worships new gods: power, self-promotion and money - an ethos that is destroying our planet and the legacy that we wish to leave our children.

This Faroese slaughter is nothing short of barbarism.

Thanks again, Christine.
