Tracy, after yer six-year stint writin’ the award-winnin’ book series, The Perfect Pair Dolphin Trilogy, why did yer change tack t’ write the teen fantasy, Belinda Fellgate?

Well, Fred, apart from David’s burning desire to illustrate his own books, we wanted to push our anti-captivity, anti-animal-cruelty message to a younger, up-and-coming audience - a new readership not fixated by its own importance. In other words, we wanted to reach those people who genuinely want to do something about the plight of our planet and those voiceless souls we share it with. Something we have only partly achieved, as our targeted audience for Belinda Fellgate has turned out to be much older than we originally intended, drawing in not only teens, but also their mums, dads, grandmas and granddads, too. Not a bad thing, as it works out, as these are the people with the power to bring about change.

Okay, luv! With this in mind, have yer raised the age group fer the second book in the series, Belinda Fellgate: The Kiss of Flauros? Yer know, the one I’M in!

Yes, we have, Fred. All storylines grow and mature, and Belinda Fellgate is no different. The teenage Belinda – along with many of her friends – is beginning to realise that if we continue the wanton abuse of our planet, all they will be left with is a toxic rock unable to sustain life as we know it.

Wicked! Does this mean that Belinda Fellgate: Malamok will be even darker than The Kiss of Flauros?

Most definitely. Much, much darker … and grittier - a story with a controversial twist that will quite literally have the readers wriggling in their seats. However, despite this, Fred, we never abandon our underlying message highlighting the plight of our planet and those voiceless souls we share it with. So, with this in mind, we hope that everyone gives Belinda Fellgate and her friends a chance to spread the word by reading the books. (The reason we have used a front-cover image that will attract both public and activist alike.) So, our message to everyone out there, no matter what your age, is: “Join the Mirror Army and help to save our planet!”

Well, I definitely like the sound o’ that, luv, and definitely want t’ join! Bein' one of the clown demon Malamok's minions, do yer think it’s too late fer me t’ change sides?

Errr???

Now, that's a great interview!

I'm glad Fred didn't do any harm to you, Tracy! And you're very brave to meet a minion of awful Malamok!

It would be awesome if more minions and people who are attracted to the horrors of animal aBusement facilities would want to change sides!

Let's hope that Belinda is able to open a lot of eyes and to make many folks joining The Mirror Army!

Thank you, Gucky. Fred the Ogre is a bit of a sweetie, really, even though he is one of Malamok's minions.

Like you, we welcome anyone who wants to change sides to help end cruelty, slaughter and abuse. It's a difficult step to take, as whistle-blowers know they will be attacked on all sides. Something David and I have learned to our cost.

However, nothing will stop us getting our message out. And if Fred the Ogre wants to join YOUR #MirrorArmy (because the #MirrorArmy IS YOUR creation), then he will be welcomed with open arms.

Thanks for commenting, Gucky!

Yes!
The Mirror Army is the group of activists who are going to crash all "Enchanted Mirrors" worldwide to end the Captivity of Atlanteans in the cruel Puddles Of Shame!
As well as to fight for all animals which are being exploited and tortured by greedy humans and abused to entertain the ignorants!
By spreading the word and never breaking the truth gently!

That's what Belinda is living for and I love her for being a voice for the voiceless!
She's the best possible leader for The Mirror Army! (◔‿◔)

I love you for being a voice for the voiceless with all your unputdownable books!
The Perfect Pair Dolphin Trilogy, which is the enthralling story to smash the captive industry - And Belinda Fellgate's gripping Adventures, which are eye-opening for everyone who loves animals and good fantasy stories!

What a lovely message, Gucky. It's this kind of support that renews our strength!

We're delighted that you love our books - ALL of them! We believe that the Belinda Fellgate series will make a difference. It's a great fantasy story with an underlying message.

Thank you again, Gucky. You're a wonderful activist - and we love you, too!

I just had to reply to this one, Gucky! I, too, love little SWEETUMS!

His origin is interesting: David had drawn a picture of a frog-like demon and wanted to use it in the story. So, he created the Snotnose/Sweetums character - and when I read about Belinda's first encounter with Sweetums, I found that David had characterized him exactly as I imagined! In fact, we loved him so much, he is BACK in the third book, Belinda Fellgate: Malamok.

The question is: will Sweetums become an honorary member of Gucky's Mirror Army?

Thanks for making comment, Antony, and can I again thank you for your magnificent colouring of my artwork. I get excited every time I see you turning my black and white ink drawings into full colour.

Be assured, you're not finished yet. There are many more monsters, ghouls and unearthly creatures hiding in the jungle of my mind ... and they're all screaming to get out! So, you have been warned ...

Thanks again, Antony!

I LOVE this interview! It was so engaging and fun to read. It really gives insight as to the type of engaging writing you will find in HellCat and The Kiss Of Flauros. If you want a book to read, (I read the Kindle version) that speaks of animal cruelty, is scary and very well written all wrapped up in a GREAT story, these are the books for you! I find these books for ages from teen to adults. Again I say...what a GREAT idea to have Fred the Ogre do the interview! Someone has a wonderful imagination and I would love to crawl around in their head. It might be rather scary, but I would still like to see where these ideas come from!

Thank you for that lovely endorsement of our work, Kathy. As for crawling around in David's head - I wouldn't go there if I were you! LOL

David's doing his dream job - drawing monsters and telling scary stories. Antony enjoys colouring monsters, too! They make a great team.

Talking about ideas, wait until you get a load of Malamok! This third instalment would have been finished very soon only for the launch of Kiss of Flauros. So, look out, we're aiming for January/February next year!

Thanks again for everything, Kathy. x
